This drawing was created in the year of 1888. In this drawing the artist used smaller and finer strokes towards the horizon-one of the techniques he employed
to give these landscapes their surprising depth. The compositions show a wealth of detail.
The precision of these details was, however, something that was very deliberate, as can be seen from Van Gogh's comparison of these two
drawings to a "map, a strategic plan as far as the execution goes". The same exactness can be seen in the way that he described the
locations on the drawings, a quite unusual addition to his work.
