This drawing is a masterpiece with realism style created in August 1885 by Van Gogh using chalk on ink on paper. Harvest of wheat field is one of Van Gogh's favorite subject. He painted dozens of that scene. In those paintings and drawings Van Gogh demonstrated his appreciation to the manual laborers and connection to nature.
In this drawing, Wheat Field with Sheaves, Van Gogh offered an opportunity for people to find a sense of calm in his paintings of wheat fields. When staying at the rural area of Netherlands Van Gogh was so fascinated by the landscape and he wrote this: "I have a terrible lucidity at moments, these days when nature is so beautiful, I am not conscious of myself any more, and the picture comes to me as in a dream."
